"The hospital has been losing a substantial amount of money each year," spokesman Geoffrey Thompson said. "Many (of the participants in the program) are very seriously ill and the hospital never covers its costs. Nineteen full-time staff members of New York-Presbyterian Hospital assigned to the Community Support Services program will lose their jobs in February.
Jennifer Schaffer, commissioner of Westchester County's Community Mental Health Department, said Tuesday that funding for the program is capped by the state. A combination of Medicaid funds and state aid pays for the program.
